Moon Racer has landed once again — one of the most storied artefacts in the Swoosh’s archive. All the way back in ’72, co-founder Bill Bowerman took an unconventional route in his quest to improve traction for runners by pouring rubber into a waffle iron to create square-shaped lugs. Becoming a key part of the brand’s early runners, it earned its name by the way the outsole imprint mimicked the footprints left on the moon.
